{"id":6466,"date":"2015-11-10T20:33:28","date_gmt":"2015-11-11T01:33:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.deliciouswithout.com\/?p=6466\/"},"modified":"2017-03-01T21:23:10","modified_gmt":"2017-03-02T02:23:10","slug":"global-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.deliciouswithout.com\/fr\/global-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Global News"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 class=\"story-h\">Inspired by her children, West Island mother opens gluten-free factory<\/h4>\n<p><span class=\"story-author\">By <a class=\"author url fn\" title=\"Posts by Felicia Parrillo\" href=\"http:\/\/globalnews.ca\/author\/felicia-parrillo\/\" rel=\"author\">Felicia Parrillo<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"story-author-position story-author-has-thumbnail\">Reporter \u00a0<span class=\"story-via\">Global News<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7Tln42SZRmE\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>DOLLARD-DES-ORMEAUX \u2013 Miriam Pearl began cooking gluten-free food out of necessity.<\/p>\n<p>Her\u00a0children, then five and six-years-old were diagnosed with Celiac disease, a serious gluten intolerance and Pearl had to figure out a way to cook for them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI went to try to figure out how to\u00a0make food that is for Celiac disease,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>After trying different recipes, the mother of two created <a href=\"http:\/\/www.deliciouswithout.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Delicious Without Gluten<\/a>,\u00a0a gluten, nut, peanut and dairy-free factory.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also kosher.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first thing we sell is bread,\u201d she told Global News.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have all kinds of bread, from baguettes and bagels and pita bread and regular bread and buns.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pearl and her staff also make desserts \u2013 from muffins and brownies to cupcakes and cake pops.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<div class=\"fusion-fullwidth fullwidth-box fusion-builder-row-1 hundred-percent-fullwidth non-hundred-percent-height-scrolling\" style=\"--awb-border-radius-top-left:0px;--awb-border-radius-top-right:0px;--awb-border-radius-bottom-right:0px;--awb-border-radius-bottom-left:0px;--awb-overflow:visible;--awb-flex-wrap:wrap;\" ><div class=\"fusion-builder-row fusion-row\"><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-0 fusion_builder_column_1_1 1_1 fusion-one-full fusion-column-first fusion-column-last fusion-column-no-min-height\" style=\"--awb-bg-size:cover;--awb-margin-bottom:0px;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-column-wrapper-legacy\">[At birthday parties],\u00a0one kid is left out or two kids are left out or this one can\u2019t participate,\u201d explained Pearl.<\/p>\n<p>According to one study, around 10 million Canadians are looking for gluten-free products, while 2.5 million require them for medical reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Martine Cohen, a Delicious Without Gluten customer said Pearl\u2019s food is a gift.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA little less than two years ago, I was diagnosed and then it felt like \u2018oh, you can\u2019t eat this,\u2019 there was a whole list of what you can\u2019t do and there weren\u2019t a lot of alternatives on the market,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Not only were there limited\u00a0options, Cohen said it was also hard to find foods with good texture and taste.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Now], you feel like you have options, you feel like you\u2019re no longer limited,\u201d said Cohen.<\/p>\n<p>But those like Cohen aren\u2019t the only ones enjoying gluten-free food.<\/p>\n<p>Cohen said her kids prefer Pearl\u2019s bread to regular bread as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re like \u2018can we have some of your bread?
