Valentine’s Day is a special time for families, friends, and loved ones and its really a lot of fun to acknowledge it with some RED yummy treats! As synthetic dyes are not best in health, I have found an alternative to liven up some goodies using beets and strawberries. These recipes are all gluten-free as usual, pretty and all natural!
People have always asked me to make red velvet cupcakes, but I could never see myself making it with the red thick paste dye. I am so thankful I figured out how to keep the red color while making it healthier! After all, that is all what its about, right? Please feel free to use the recipes and have fun with them. Also known as blood turnips, beets are an excellent source of fiber, vitamin C, magnesium, and folate. The underrated vegetable is an acquired taste, but the nutritional powerhouse can add years to your lifespan if consumed on a regular basis. There are other benefits that my health coach talks about from weight loss to good sex but this is another blog!!! Beets help you detox and lose weight because they contain no fat and are a good source of dietary fiber — half soluble and half insoluble. These two types help fight fat by maintaining proper bowel function and lowering cholesterol levels for weight loss. Similarly, beets are rich in magnesium, a mineral that supports optimal nerve and muscle functioning, which could be beneficial for losing weight. Beets are high in nitrates which can help with low intensity endurance in exercising and help lower blood pressure.
